Hungaricum Borszalon is specialized in dealing with Hungarian grape varieties of Hungarian origin, Hungarian grape varieties of non-Hungarian origin and also wines made from the grapes of sublimated old and new Hungarian wine types.
The aim of the shop founders is to prove – with the enthusiastic work, know-how and experience of Hungarian wine makers and grape experts – that wines made from Hungarian grape varieties are able to compete with other wines made from fashionable grape varieties anywhere else in the world.
The implementation of this task may seem difficult, however, if we take the recognition of Hárslevelű (Linden Leaf) and Furmint into consideration, as well as their world fame and reputation of the grapes of Hungarian sublimates (Cserszegi Fűszeres, Irsai Olivér) or the rising success of Juhfark (Sheep’s Tail) and Kadarka, we do not need any more explanations.
There are only few countries worldwide that are able to provide with 5-6 original, native grape varieties. However, the National Grape Variety List of Hungary consists of 46 types of wine grapes that are either native, domestic sublimated or present in Hungary for about hundreds of years though they originally come from abroad.
Our business is specialized in these special Hungarian grape varieties called “Hungaricum” grapes, but of course we can find wines of Hungarian winemakers made from world grape varieties as well, because these wine types are also made by Hungarian people on Hungarian vineyards, and these are also products of Hungarian minds.
We, Hungarians are supposed to protect and take care of our Hungarian and naturalized grape varieties in the Carpathian Basin so that they will be available for future generations, too. Protecting these grape varieties is also essential to maintain our culture and history, self-esteem and identity.
Our company and business have taken a modest part in the sales of Hungarian wines made from Hungarian grape varieties. This way we can make these wines more popular with maintaining Hungarian tradition and culture.
